After 8 long weeks, our cancelled cycle is finally over. It was rough waiting it out, but I really did not want to have to go and get more medications to hurry it up. Now we wait until next year when our HSA fills back up so that we can afford to do more treatments.

Other than that, we have just been staying busy. Labor day weekend we had a nice cool front come in that dropped our temperatures from over 100 to just above 80. It has been a nice cool week. We turned off our air conditioning, opened up all the windows and doors and just hung out outside. We did a couple bike rides around the lake and really enjoyed the week. It actually got cool enough in the morning that I had to start wearing pants to work. 🙂 Unfortunately, the temps are going back up, so we will probably have a hot week next week and then the weather man said that it would be slowly cooling down to fall weather.

We are starting to plan out our trips for October. We are getting excited for all the fun we are going to have. We are heading down to Octoberfest in Fredericksburg, the Bat Cruise in Austin, Phoenix for a week, Houston for a weekend to see a friend, and then we will spend Halloween weekend here with some friends and Darrell’s mom. So much planned, so little time! I’m loving it!

That was the longest week I have had in awhile. The afternoon route has just been so busy and crowded. I am sitting at 61 Pre-K through 2nd grade children. I tried to put them into assigned seats and boy was that a failure! I don’t know what my plan B is. I think I will just let them sit where they want. I was informed yesterday that we have a new driver coming in, so in two weeks or so, I shouldn’t be driving a regular route anymore. I’m excited to be getting back to just subbing.

I did that trip down to Rockdale on Saturday.  It was a decent 15 hours of work. We got down to Rockdale around 5 and the temp was at 109. It was ridiculously hot. I was so glad that it was the shortest football game I have been to. a 180 piece band was unloaded, played for the game, and reloaded leaving the parking lot in just over 3 hours.

Sunday was a slightly relaxing day. I did the laundry and got things done. We have been cleaning our backyard and working on deciding what we are going to do. Our hope is that we will be able to do a lot of it ourselves once the weather cools down. We have to see whether or not it will be cheaper to do pavers or cement for the patio. I’m going to ask my boss for a quote since he lays concrete on the side. I know the quote we got from a landscaper was $2600, so we are hoping for a much smaller quote. We don’t think it should really cost $10/sq ft. So.. I guess we just wait and see.

It Rained!!!!

Yep.. Early in the morning on Saturday morning, there was some bright lightening lighting up my whole bedroom waking me up, followed by a deep rumble of thunder and finally, the unmistakable sound of raindrops blowing against our window. It was such an awesome sound and even though we were woken up at 5am for it, we both loved it. We sat there watching the lightning for about an hour and a half before we went back to sleep.

When we finally got up on Saturday, we realized that Darrell had left his car windows down, so his whole drivers seat was soaked. We had a long relaxing day on Saturday. We watched the rest of the Avatar cartoon on Netflix, and Darrell made me beef stew for dinner. It sprinkled off and on all day on Saturday with the high only being like 90. Such a relief from the heat we have been having.

Today we also had rain and a somewhat relaxing day. In total we have gotten about 4″ of rain in the last two days. It was a nice cooling weekend. Unfortunately, we are expected to get hot later this week, but hey, the reprieve was nice. 🙂

Just a random fun fact: I went and got chinese food for lunch last week and I ate my fortune cookie and guess what my fortune said:

“From the floors of the ocean, the waves of the tide, a vacation awaits you far & wide.”

Makes ya think we might end up going on that cruise huh?

… so little time/money to do them.

We have so many things filling up our calendar lately. Our three big months are: October, December, and April.

October: Darrell wants to go down to Austin and go on a bat cruise (a single night on a cruise to watch the bats fly off for food at dusk). Then we are going to be in Phoenix for a whole week because Darrell has a class to attend that his company is paying for. Then I am driving down to Houston (hopefully) to see a college friend. Then right around Halloween, Lorna is coming out to visit and pick up her motorhome.

December: Not as many things planned as in October, but one big thing. We are planning on heading out to Southern California for the holidays so that we can visit with family and get to see our niece (Hazel) and nephew (due Halloween). We haven’t fully decided on when exactly and if we are heading out.

April: We are still in talks about heading on the cruise in April. It would be a wonderful vacation and some much needed time away (plus it would be with friends and not just us). Then the weekend after we would get back from the cruise, my cousin is getting married in Washington. Plus then about two weeks later is the Beerfestival in California.

So many things and not enough money. We have to pick and choose which things we would like to do. We also don’t know if Darrell’s sister is going to plan her wedding reception in June or not.

Things would be so much easier and more affordable if we lived on the west coast. 😛 (AKA Reasonable driving distance to everything)

what a week!

So I have been mildly upset all week to say the least. I have spent a lot of time watching Netflix and reading books. Luckily I have a lot of books I need to read by October. It was very hard for us to call it quits this week. I guess you never realize how badly you want it until you aren’t given the opportunity to actually go through with it.

Of course it also happens to be an extremely hot summer here in Texas. We are breaking records left and right. We have had the most days above 100 degrees since 1948. We are also breaking the records for the hottest lows. Last night at 11pm it had cooled down to a whopping 93 degrees. Such a relief from the hot day right? Unfortunately, there is no end in sight.

We also have Darrell’s mom’s motorhome in our front yard. We are holding it for her until she can head down in October to pick it up. Meanwhile we are working on it and fixing it up for her. Today I went through the motorhome and pulled out everything that wasn’t attached. We are going to go through the stuff and get rid of the old stuff. We are planning on putting the dishes she will need into the motorhome. We are going to re-cover the cushions so they don’t look so worn. I know that it isn’t mine, but I am totally looking forward to helping fix it up. 🙂 It will help me keep my mind off of things. 😛 First steps first though, we have to get it into the mechanic to make sure everything is working and then see where we stand from there.

Darrell is going to go to a music thing tomorrow and I am heading to a co-worker’s daughters wedding with another co-worker so we can help out. This should be a very fun and long weekend!
