U/S #5

We drove all the way to Ft. Worth today so we could see why the follicles weren’t growing. They are growing a little, but not quite as fast as they were suppose to.

They said that we are looking good since there has been growth since Friday. But unfortunately, not enough growth to trigger tonight. So I get to drive to Ft. Worth on Wednesday for another Ultrasound. They upped my Follistim dosage to 100 and we are hoping for the follicles to grow normally these next couple days.

We are sitting at 4 follicles ranging from 13-15mm. That is perfect according to the doctor. Well, at least having 4 that are growing around the same rate. So hopefully, they will all grow together in the next two days, we will trigger on Weds, IUI on Friday and hopefully one will stick!

Well… Damn.

So, had the third ultrasound of the week today. Seemed to go great. 2 big follicles, looked good to me.

Then RE called. Said that it seems as though my follicles aren’t growing at all! Nurse said that my numbers haven’t changed all week which is weird since we have been doing the same dosage of the follistim. So she upped me to a higher dosage, I still have to take it all weekend, and then I have to drive to Ft. Worth on Monday morning to see what they can find and whether my ovaries are going to cooperate with us there. Which means that we will be driving to Ft. Worth twice next week unless for some odd reason, my follicles don’t grow and they end up having to cancel the cycle. 🙁

So, I did some reading online, and some women said that it was on CD22 when their follicles hit maturity while on follistim. I know, I know… Don’t believe everything you read online. But one can always hope right?

Uncooperative

That is what my ovaries are. They are being very uncooperative with the ultrasound and making it very hard for the doc to see.

We had an ultrasound yesterday and my right was a little hard to find, but was found and measured 5 follicles. Some were slightly bigger than they were on Tuesday, but the big ones were actually smaller. 🙁

My left, however, was very hard to find. I think doc spent about 4 minutes trying to find it. When we did find it, we were only able to see one follicle. So we went from 3 down to one. RE says that they might just be behind the big follicle, so we still have our fingers crossed.

I have to do another ultrasound today and then there is a chance to either trigger tonight or tomorrow. We are kind of hoping for tonight since that would mean that we go in on Sunday and won’t have to take time off of work, but it will be what it is.

Vaginal Ultrasound:

We currently have 8 follicles. 5 on the right side, 3 on the left. We have 3 that are large and around the same size, 4 that are about 2 days behind the first 3 and 1 that is a couple days behind that. So even though we have 8, as of now, only 3 will possibly ovulate. My lining is thinner than I think they like, so I think they are going to switch how I am taking my Estradiol. Won’t find out until our lovely nurse Amy calls us tonight.

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG):

My tubes are all open and willing to carry an egg. So we are totally good and ready to go. It was a slightly uncomfortable procedure, but it wasn’t to bad. The worst part was afterwards when they finished and I stood up off the table only to be bent over due to cramps. It was horrible. They were just as bad as my worst ever menstrual cramps. But it was all worth it to know that these procedures aren’t all for naught.

So we wait until the nurse calls tonight and we see what is next in our bag of goodies.

uggg!

Well, we have to do an HSG this cycle just to make sure that my tubes are open and everything is doing what it should be. Just got off the phone with the Hospital where I have to go for it and my portion of the bill is $840. OUCH!

Luckily it goes towards our deductible, but it is still a huge number. But unfortunately, it means that this is our last cycle. At least for awhile. So we are hoping that it works, but if not, we won’t be able to try again until November at the earliest. 🙁

There is however an upside! If this cycle doesn’t work, Darrell and I have talked about taking time and some of our new friends are going on a cruise in April, so we have talked about going with them. So, no baby then it’s cruise time. I am hoping that we can’t go, but at least it will give us something to look forward to in case it doesn’t work.

3 weeks to go.
