Rough Times

So, this post is hard for me to write. Most of my posts are upbeat and the fun, exciting things we do. I try to mainly post the good stuff instead of the bad, but our life isn’t all rainbows and roses.

Shortly before Edward’s birthday, we began to have more problems with Edward not listening and doing things that he knew he wasn’t suppose to do. Darrell and I would get him in trouble, but nothing was seeming to work. Things just got worse. Any time Edward would be told “no,” or if something doesn’t go the way that he wants/expects things to, he would go into full tantrum mode and strike out. All his anger would come out and he would attack anyone who was close to him or who would get the biggest rise. He wouldn’t listen to anything and any type of punishment would make things worse. After a rough few months, we went and saw Edward’s pediatrician who then gave us the name of a therapy group to help us. We are excited for the next stage and we hope that this helps Edward in whatever way we can. We had his first appointment today and it went well. Fingers crossed we start working our way over this bridge.

Edward has had a few big things this summer:

He lost his very first tooth on Wednesday July 18th. He didn’t even have a cute little toothless smile as his adult teeth were already coming in. He was sitting on the couch and then just said: “Mommy, my tooth broke.” I didn’t even know that it was loose, so we had to have a discussion about teeth falling out. I checked and his other tooth was loose and we didn’t think that it would be in for much longer. We were right. The second tooth fell out 2 weeks later on August 2.

The second big thing that happened was that his swim instructors voted him Swimmer of the month for August. They are super proud of him and he is almost to the point of moving up to level 3. He is excited for that and cannot wait!

“Congrats to Edward for being Lynnwood’s August Swimmer of the Month!! Edward is such a blast to have in class, and is a hard worker! He improved his skills further in our summer camps this year too, keep up the good work!” – SafeSplash swim

We did another hike out to the Ice Caves. We had to keep changing the date, so only one other family joined us, but it was a beautiful day and it was really nice.

We did our normal raspberry picking again this year. The boys love it and it is a great little family tradition we could start. This year, we took it a bit easier and only got about 20 pounds.

We got some free tickets from our mechanic for the local minor league team. We took the boys and they both loved it! Morgan loved sitting and watching the game. Edward loved the kids area and played a bunch. He also loved the mascot. He looked for Weebly anytime he could. He was super excited when he wanted to give Weebly a hug and he was picked up out of his seat and over the banister. I was impressed as Edward is not a light kid. We might start hitting more baseball games next year.
