Grammy came to town and was staying at a friends house in Renton. Since she was nearby, we let Edward head down for a weekend and spend time with Grammy by himself. He seemed to have a lot of fun and would call me just to see how I was doing and to check on his brother. Grammy took some photos to share with us.

This little cutie patootie is 18 months already! Where did that time go? He is a super active little boy who came in today at 28#9.6oz and 33.5″ long. He is always trying to keep up with his brother and the other big kids. He is getting really close to being able to ride the balance bike. He would be able to do the trike except his little legs aren’t quite long enough for him to work the pedals. I caught him a week or so ago in the cul-de-sac with his brother on their bikes. They were heading up a little bit and then riding them down. Morgan pushed his trike up a bit and then climbed onto the seat and then let the trike go backwards down the hill. It spun to the side and then rolled over and Morgan ended up underneath it. Thank goodness for helmets! But I got over to him, he wasn’t crying so I got the trike off of him and picked him up. He got right back on the trike and followed brother again.

He has also figured out how to climb up the ladder for the bunkbeds. He can’t climb back down, so we had to block the ladder. But since he showed us he could do it, we went ahead and moved him from the crib to a toddler bed. He is loving it! We have had a few instances where we can put him in bed, say goodnight, walk out and he only fusses for a little bit before he is out. He loves giving hugs and kisses and sometimes gets to stay up late because he is being super super cute.

The biggest issue we are having with him is that he still isn’t talking. We have heard about 5 words so far. He said “bye” before Christmas, but hasn’t said it since. He says “ag” and plays tag by running up and tagging someone and then running away laughing. We have heard a version of “daddy” a couple times and our neighbor has heard “hi.” Other than that, we are still waiting for it to click. He understands what we are asking and will do things we ask him to like “go get your shoes.” He mostly communicates by “eh” and pointing. We have another 3 months to wait as he is starting to get more words. If he still isn’t talking by August, we will start working on getting hearing tests done and getting him into early intervention. I’m hoping we don’t have to go that far, but it is nice knowing that we have a plan in place in case we have to.

He has a few allergies/reactions to some different foods. We fed him breakfast one day and he got mango yogurt all over his face and his face got puffy and red for a few hours. Then we also gave him a cinnamon roll and where he had cinnamon on his face, he got all red and splotchy too. We have found that he isn’t allergic to ingesting them, but since he is a sensitive skinned red-head, they are all topical reactions. So he is ok eating them, but he will react if they get on his skin.

Because of the sensitive skin, we have been having a lot of diaper rashes. The best way to fight them has been baby powder at every change. It has been tedious, but we are on it. 🙂

I am excited to see him learn and develop.

We had quite a wet spring this year, so even though we waited until the end of the month (like we normally do so the crowds are smaller, it actually happened to be on one of the only sunny dry weekends we had. So, it was a bit busier than normal, but because the season is late, there were still thousands of flowers and almost all of them were still in full bloom. So we didn’t have to hike out to see the big fields. They were just right there. We had a lot of fun and the kids loved running around. Morgan loved feeling all the flowers and smelling them. Since it was a wet year, the grounds were dry, but they were still spongy. Walking out to the fields felt like walking on the rubber of a playground. We stopped at Snow Goose Produce and for the very first time, the line wasn’t ridiculously long, so we grabbed some ice cream. We didn’t know the cones were so huge, so we all got one. Way to much though!! Our favorite across the bunch was the Salted caramel. The others we tried were death by chocolate, huckleberry, strawberry, some coffee one (I’m not a fan, so I didn’t try that one) and a regular chocolate one. The others were good, but we all loved the salted caramel. We hung out at Roozengarde and had a blast for the rest of the day. It is nice to be able to just walk through the tulips and the kids have more room. We actually haven’t done anything else for the festival in all the years we have been going. I was bummed that I was having problems with the camera, so a lot of the photos were out of focus, but they are still beautiful photos.

Since our trip in November, we have been wanting to head back to Great Wolf Lodge since last time we spent a night in the ER and I spent most of the time in the room with a sick little boy. We wanted to figure out a good time to go and Darrell wanted to take his mom. So we were trying to figure out a time to go with all our schedules. During our waffling, we got an email with a special to upgrade to the suites. So, with that set, we figured a time and got our stuff together. We planned our trip for April 15-17 so it was after Spring breaks in the area and would be a bit quieter. Since it happened to be about half way between Edward and Lorna’s birthday, we went ahead and bought a birthday package.

It was a lot of fun. We went ahead and restarted Edward’s wand for the magiquest. We also got Morgan a wand and he loved wandering around and waving it at all the items. We spent sometime in the water park. Edward and Darrell got to ride some of the tube slides with Lorna. Morgan didn’t last very long before he was ready for bed, but he had fun while he was there.

Overall we had a blast. Unfortunately, Morgan caught a stomach bug the day before we left and then it hit Edward on our last night there, so he was down for the count. Maybe one of these times, we will be able to make a full trip there without any of us getting sick.

At the beginning of April, a friend mentioned a dinosaur show that had come into town so we headed over to Monroe to check it out. It sounded like it would be a lot of fun and while the kids loved the dinosaurs, it was definitely not worth the cost of getting in. All of the activities had long lines for a short time or it cost more money. Like there was an activity to pay $5 to blow up a balloon until it popped. It was ridiculous. We didn’t even hang out for an hour before heading out. Next time, we will remember to look up reviews before we go to anything.
