We finally renewed our zoo memberships and took another trip to the zoo. Edward was way more mobile than he was last time. Last time we went to the zoo was back in July when Edward was just starting to walk, so he didn’t actually run very far from us. This time, he didn’t want to do anything we wanted to do. We would try to go one way and Edward would run another. All in all, it was a blast and we spent a great afternoon with some good friends.

Lately, the mom’s group I am in have been doing some hikes on Saturday, so we have been getting out and enjoying these lovely spring days we have been having. We did another hike at Paradise Valley, and today, we did a hike in Shoreline area. We loved them both. At the end of the hike in Shoreline, we hung out and let Edward play on the play structures. He had a blast and was sooooo mad at us for making him leave. 🙂
I knew we would be busy, but I didn’t expect to be this busy. I am going to do a few posts and combine some months.
July:
In July, we had our exchange student from Spain. It was a blast having her around. It kept us really busy, but was a lot of fun. We took the ferry over to Kingston and drove down to Bremerton to meet with my Uncle Paul for dinner on the first Saturday she was here. That Sunday, my cousin was in town and was having her little girl’s first birthday party, so we attended that. The next weekend we headed up to Vancouver and Sechelt to visit with some of Darrell’s relatives. The last weekend she was here, we drove down to Enumclaw for the Highland Games.
August:
The first weekend, we said good-bye to Leire and then the next afternoon, my dad showed up for a few days while waiting for a load. The next weekend, we headed over to Sandpoint since Darrell’s mom broke her heel and needed surgery. We went out to visit and help her pack a little bit of her stuff since she was getting ready to move back down to California. Darrell also volunteered as a judge for a Space Elevator competition.
September:
We had a fairly quiet beginning to September. We had Edwards doctors appointment and just spent time as a family. It was the beginning of the FTC season, so Darrell was busy helping them out. He also went for a hike with our neighbor to Blanco lake. It was a little bit more strenuous than both of them thought it would be, so they never made it all the way. At the end of September, we went down to Southern California and then drove out to Vegas for my sisters wedding. It was a lot of fun spending a week hanging out with family. Edward spent a good portion of his time in Vegas swimming in the pools. He absolutely loved the pools and didn’t want to get out. The last day of September was Darrell’s first day of class for his Master’s program at UW. This class is whopping his butt and we are glad that it is almost over. One quarter down, 8 more to go.
When Darrell headed to Chicago for the IEEE T&D conference, Edward and I needed to do stuff to keep us busy. Well.. I needed us to do stuff so that Edward was tired and wasn’t such a crank since Darrell was gone from early Monday morning until late Thursday night.
On Monday, my aunt had a civil wedding at the Everett Courthouse and needed a witness, so we went up to witness their marriage. Then we went out to lunch with them.
Tuesday turned out to be a beautiful day as well, so Edward and I went and ate our lunch at Richmond Beach Park. It was a pretty cute little beach.
Wednesday and Thursday were both rainy, so we were stuck inside. I made some pasta and dyed it a couple different colors and let Edward play in it for a little bit. He seemed to enjoy it.
Then Thursday night is when Darrell came home. His plane was suppose to land around midnight, so I put Edward to bed and figured I would wake him up when it was time to get in the car. He had other plans though. He decided to take an hour ‘nap’ and then stay awake with Mommy while waiting to go get Daddy. It made for a long night, but worth it when I saw his face light up when Darrell got in the car.
