So, I posted a while ago about our trip from Texas to Seattle here. These are some photos to go along with that post. πŸ™‚

Day 1 – March 22 – Stayed in Abilene, TX after not getting enough sleep to hit the road safely.

Both cats were unsure of what exactly was going on. Poleeko stayed under the blankets the whole first night and Zedd came out, but needed to be near someone at all times. Darrell got to cuddle with him. πŸ™‚

Day 2 – March 23 – Drove from Abilene, TX to Farmington, NM

The cats weren’t sure about having to stay in their carrier, but they weren’t yowling which was great. We found out that if we left them uncovered, they would yowl, so we took our blanket and covered the cage only looking in occasionally to make sure they were ok.

On the left is the duststorms we had to drive through from just West of Lubbock all the way through Monroe, NM. After Monroe, the dust wasn’t all around, but the wind was still at a hefty speed which made us have to take it slow. On the right is Zedd needing more cuddles after a 12 hour drive in his carrier. I think he just wanted to make sure he was still loved. πŸ™‚

Day 3 – March 24 – Drove from Farmington, NM to Idaho Falls, ID

All we took were a bunch of scenic photos. We drove through a section of Colorado, then crossed through Utah stopping to have dinner with my sister and her boyfriend in Orem, UT and ended up in Idaho for the night. The first photo is of Darrell trying to find Poleeko who crawled under the bed.

Day 4 – March 25 – Idaho Falls, ID to Sandpoint, ID

Today we had our first frost on the window when we left the hotel. Because of the way Idaho is shaped, we crossed into Montana and then back into Idaho. It was our shortest trip at only about 9 hours of driving.

We left the cats in Sandpoint at Grandma Lorna’s cabin so that they weren’t going house to house with us and they were somewhat stable. This is where they spent their 3 weeks:

Then we said goodbye and headed to Seattle

IMG_1515IMG_1727

Our neighbor (also our real estate agent) was kind enough to throw us a baby shower/going away party. We invited almost everyone we knew here in town and many came out for a few minutes or longer. It was nice having a flow of people most of the day. We are really going to miss everyone here and are thankful that we got to know many of them (even though it was only a short time). We got some nice stuff for Sprout from everyone even though many of them gave us a bunch of their hand-me-downs. Once again, we were so busy having fun, we forgot to take pictures. We gave Charlene’s little girl the camera, so we have a lot of shots from a 3-year-old’s perspective. πŸ™‚

We had a blast and it was a nice ending weekend to our time in Abilene. Definitely different than the first weekend we were here. πŸ™‚

Today was our last ultrasound here in Abilene with Dr. Maberry. We absolutely love Dr. Maberry and are sad to be leaving, but we are really excited to be moving!

Sprout was as cooperative as always. We were able to get all the measurements we needed and everything looks great. At this point, they measure baby’s approximate length by the femur bone. Sprout is measuring about 31 weeks, so we are looking at having a tall baby since Sprout has measured ahead at all of the ultrasounds. Sprout’s heartbeat has been a strong and consistent 160 bpm this whole pregnancy. Strong and easily found each and every appointment. Makes it easy on Mommy’s anxiety. πŸ˜›

Dr. Maberry also measured all the fluid around Sprout and it is measuring right on target with Sprout’s stomach being full which means the organs are working like they should be. Sprout is estimated to be about 3 pounds 6 ounces right now. That might help account for the quicker weight gain at this point in time. I have been watching what I eat, (but still craving those sweets, just trying not to overdo them) and I am still gaining about 1.5 pounds a week for the last 5 weeks. Maybe the weight gain will slow down in the third trimester. I’m not overly worried as I am currently up 25 pounds from pre-pregnancy which is where I was when I delivered Pixel and I am only 1.5 weeks away from when I delivered him. My biggest problem with the weight gain is really the lack of exercise. I know it, but it is so hard to motivate yourself around here. I’m looking forward to Seattle and hopefully we will find a place near a nice walking path that we can go for walks later. We shall see. This move is probably not going to help for the time being. πŸ™‚

Feet (since Sprout likes to stick the foot out in front of the camera each and every time):

IMG_5697IMG_5696

The one on the left is when Sprout stuck the foot up between the camera and face. Sprout was playing with the foot the whole ultrasound.

So, that’s it. Sprout looks great and we have two more appointments here before we move. I have to get my records and then once we get up to Seattle, call the birthing center to set up an appointment with them. Then they will refer me to the MFM there. So it might be close to 4-6 more weeks before we see Sprout again. Luckily for us, one of our friends just brought us over her fetal heartbeat monitor she doesn’t need anymore, so during the move, we will be able to listen to Sprout whenever we want. The movement has been helpful, but hearing the heartbeat is a lot more reassuring. πŸ™‚

….I just realized that I haven’t really posted much of what we have been up to since late October, except for baby stuff. It isn’t that we aren’t busy, we are just really busy with lots of little things and I do the update on baby so that I remember later. So this post is all about what we have been up to in the last two months. πŸ™‚

We spent Halloween at home. We put up some lights in the garage and just kind of hung out and passed out candy. There weren’t nearly as many trick-or-treaters as there was last year, but still, most of the candy we bought was passed out (We still have a small paper cup full of leftovers).

In early November, we went to the Zoo with Kelly & Liam and walked around having a blast. It was nice seeing all of the new exhibits they have put in lately since we don’t head over there all that often.

We also went with a fellow bagpiper and headed out to Big Spring for the St. Andrews Celebration. We mainly went to hear the pipe band that was playing since they were number 2 in their division in the world. It was pretty cool and we enjoyed listening to the music.

We also spent some time of November working on getting our cats accustomed to the cat door. The directions said it would probably take about a month or so, but we kind of forced them into it by closing them in the garage where the only way back into the house was through the door. Tough love. πŸ™‚ It took about a week and then Poleeko was fine with it, and then a few days later, Zedd got use to it. We played with them through the door each day and gave them treats when they went through it. It was definitely a chore, but so worth it in the end. Now we have the litterbox by the garage door and we can just open the big garage door to air it out. The cats don’t seem to mind it and they seem to enjoy the fact that they have a whole new room to play in whenever they want to.

Thanksgiving was a small event since it was just the two of us at home. We just made a meal and hung around in our pajamas all day. Nothing too exciting.

Our Christmas holidays started off fast and they just haven’t slowed down. I can’t believe that December is already almost over and I still have a super long list of things to do. *sigh*

We headed out to downtown Abilene with some friends and their kids and watched the Christmas parade (which is the longest parade this town has).

Parade2Parade1

We had a dinner party at a friends house on my birthday, then we had a midwife appointment, had someone come level out our backyard, had a doctors appointment, my dad and uncle came into town for a few nights, we had Darrell’s company Christmas party, and we went to Ceder Hill State Park to go camping for the weekend for a Winter Solstice Celebration with the Metroplex Atheists. This was all the first half of the month. πŸ™‚

WS3WS1

WS4As you can tell, the camping was full of mud and added a couple inches to our shoes everywhere we walked. It was a little rough that first night and the first morning.

The week after camping, Darrell’s mom came into town, another midwife appointment, an Apocalypse/fugly sweater party with our friends (the most people we have had in our house at one time), Poleeko goes missing for about 12 hours (actively looked for him for 4), started to organize and pack up the house, Christmas day, heater stops working on day after Christmas (18-25 degrees outside), and our house is a mess while we are packing and staging and I am beginning to think we might have to wait a week or so into the new year before it goes up on the market since we haven’t even gotten the last three items fixed in the house that we need to.

We even had Pixel with us. I bought this little ornament since my family custom is to buy an ornament every year for Christmas. I was hoping to start it with Pixel, but since he passed away, I felt that having a “Baby’s first” ornament wasn’t right. I went to Kohls and found this ornament and it just seemed like the best thing for me to get at the time. We put it up near the top of the tree and hopefully it will be a little memento for us every year when we bring out our ornaments.

And of course, there are the pictures of what our cats have been up to. πŸ™‚

There are still 4 more days of this year, so who knows what will happen in those 4 days. I am hoping to finish cleaning and staging the house and we might get close as Darrell has a 4 day weekend. We are going to be going over to a friends house for New Years Eve and we are taking our liquor so that hopefully a decent chunk of it will get drunk and we won’t have to take it with us. πŸ™‚ Then Lorna leaves early on the 1st and our Ultrasound is on the 2nd. So we still have a very busy week ahead of us. I have my fingers crossed we finish doing everything on time. Once I finish staging the house, I will post pictures.

10 weeks

Weekly Updates:

How far along: 10 weeks – 1/4 of the way there!!!

Baby’s size: Kumquat – Your baby, now barely the size of a kumquat, weighs less than a quarter of an ounce. (Length: a little over 1 inch, head to bottom.)

Sleep: Sleep has been good. Last couple of nights I had to wear my seabands to bed because I was to nauseous to actually sleep.

Maternity Clothes: Same as last week. I am in my comfy clothes since I sit around the house all day. But my jeans are starting to get a little snug.

Food Cravings: None.

Food Aversions: We made a chocolate Pecan pie on Sunday and I had a slice last night with ice cream. Definitely did not sit well, so I am still staying clear of many of the sweet items. I am also staying away from spicy things since they are starting to make me feel sick as well.

Symptoms I have: Still nauseous occasionally, but the Seabands have really been helping. I seem to only actually puke something up after I brush my teeth. πŸ™

Doctor’s Appointment: Tomorrow morning! Then we call the midwife and MFM to set up appointments with them.

Movement: Nope. Lots of air bubbles though.

Belly Button: Innie.

Gender: We’re not finding out!

What I’m looking forward to: Getting the NT ultrasound at 12 weeks to make sure there are no neural tube defects and getting out of the first trimester! (Hoping the nauseousness goes away.)

What I miss: Being able to bake. I can’t seem to feel well enough to finish baking something on my own. Either that or I run out of energy about halfway through something. *sigh*
