Hope everyone is having a Happy Veterans Day!
Thank you to all service members past, present and future for all that you do!
I hope that many who are far away from their families will be reunited again soon!
We had a great Halloween! Lorna, Darrell and I carved some pumpkins and then passed out candy. We had so many trick-or-treaters that we almost ran out of candy (about a handful left at the end of the night). I really enjoyed seeing all of the costumes and loved seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces. I can’t wait till we have one of our own. Here are some pictures:
We then put the pumpkins on the porch, finished setting up and sat on the porch handing out candy.
Hope you had a Happy Halloween!! From the Ross Family
I was having a good week thus far relaxing after coming home to a broken pizza stone that the cats knocked off of the top of the fridge (and it landed on Poleeko’s tail, but he is okay). We had unpacked and were just relaxing while getting ready for Lorna to come visit and me to head to Houston to visit de Mort. It wasn’t going to be relaxing for long. 🙁
We had ordered a futon so that we would have the bed space in the extra room for when people come to visit and it was going to be delivered before Lorna arrived. I figured that giving the company 3 weeks was long enough to allow them to get stuff together and make a trip to Dallas to pick up the futon. I hadn’t heard anything so I called them on Tuesday and at first they were like “we can’t guarantee any specific delivery.” I was really irritated since before we ordered the sales guy said it would only take about 2 weeks to get. They finally told me that they would have it shipped instead and we should have it before Thursday night. So my fingers are crossed for that.
Then this morning, I drove my jeep to work and 1.5 hours later, when I was getting off the route, my coworkers asked me what was leaking under my jeep. Turns out I had a huge puddle the size of the hood under the car that had accumulated in the little amount of time I was gone. It was antifreeze, so I was thinking I might have to replace the radiator again. I headed straight over to the mechanic (as if you get there early, they usually have a little more time to fix things). I was hoping for a quick fix, but I am out of luck. Turns out that my water pump has a hole in it. Since you have to basically take apart half the engine to replace the water pump, it’s going to cost a pretty penny. :/ As long as he gets it fixed before I leave Friday morning so that Darrell and Lorna have a car to get around this weekend.
It’s Official! We are going to be in Southern California for Christmas!!! We bought our tickets last night. I am really excited since we haven’t spent a holiday with my family since 2008. Plus we will get some more time with our niece and get to meet our nephew who is due in less than 2 weeks. We are excited (or at least I am :P).
So that is what has been up in the last 3 days. There should be more coming in the next few weeks.
I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. I know that we did.
We were invited to our neighbors party and so we hung out there most of the day.
Around 6:30 cst, my mom texted me to say that they were heading to the hospital because my baby sister was in labor. At 10pm cst, another text saying that she was at 7 and just chilling out. At 11 cst, she is at 9.5 and her water broke. Should be soon. I stayed up and was hanging out even though I should have been in bed since I had to be at work at 8. :/
Finally couldn’t stay awake, so I went to bed. Put the phone on silent and went to sleep. Couldn’t sleep very well (but I haven’t been sleeping well for the last week), so I didn’t get to sleep until around 2.
Hazel Ayn was born at 11:06 pst July 4th coming in at 8lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long.
Congratulations to my beautiful baby sister on her beautiful baby girl!
Hey all
We’ve been really busy these first couple weeks. Darrell has finished his first year at Milsoft, we got a little bit of tropical storm Alex, and all in all just relaxed inside and hung out together.
Hope everyone had a great holiday! Darrell made me an apron for the kitchen. We’ve had the stuff, just never the room to do it. We finally have the room, so Darrell is totally taking advantage of the sewing machine. I love it! We spent the fourth inside playing video games since it was storming almost all day. It stopped just in time for people to light fireworks. There were a ton in our neighborhood! We walked out the front door and saw like 6 different firework shows! It was awesome. The downside was that since we have had so much moisture, the mosquito’s are out in force, so we spent a lot of time getting bit. No matter how much bug spray we put on.
We have had a lot of bugs visiting. There are a ton of grasshoppers in the backyard, some butterflies and then there are tons of flies that get in the house. The flies all swarmed the windowsill for some reason, so Darrell vacuumed them up. 😛 It’s all great!
We are loving our house and are waiting for people to come visit. Are you going to be the next?
