December is usually a really busy month for us. This year was a bit more low key as we spent a lot of it sick. The first week and a half was us stuck with Hand Foot Mouth Disease and not able to do anything. Then we spent the next week and a half trying to do a bunch of different holiday events but not over exerting ourselves. We did however, decorate the house a bit and did a couple crafts at home. Edward even wrote out his own wish list this year! And of course, we went and did our annual Santa photo.

We did Swansons nursery. We were suppose to go with friends, but things came up and they couldn’t make it. We still had fun and I got some good shots of the boys.

We also took some friends down to Bellevue and watched Snowflake Lane. It was a lot of fun because we were able to play in the play area a bit before the show and Daddy was able to walk over after work and meet up with us. The kids loved all the excitement and were just awestruck the whole show.

Grammy came into town just before Christmas and we had our annual Polar Express Night. We only had a few friends over as I wasn’t fully up to having a bunch of people over and getting a big party planned. I think it went great though! The next day, we decorated the gingerbread houses that we had been making. Darrell was super proud of the fact he made them all from scratch by himself. Well… with the help of the boys.

Since we were sick through most of Christmas, we went and did our downtown holiday events on New Years Eve. We took the link down and we wandered through the gingerbread village, played on some playgrounds, and then took the monorail to Seattle Center and did some ice skating and looking at the train setup they have there. It was a nice day and we love going to see all the flashiness downtown occasionally. Edward wasn’t super confident on the ice skates and it was really busy this time, so he didn’t do much skating. Oh well!

Edward made a few ornaments in school for Christmas this year. Unfortunately, he ate half of one before I could get a picture!

We had a white Christmas this year!! Lorna was able to spend Christmas with us, and Edward loved having Grammy there. We got our usual Christmas eve box of jammies and Grammy even got some. The boys had a great Christmas. We opened stockings before breakfast and then opened gifts after breakfast. Edward and Darrell wanted to rush through opening gifts so they could go outside and play. And they did. We finished opening gifts and everyone got ready to play in the snow and they spent the rest of the day outside playing in the snow. I’m glad we got a lot of gifts for them to play with when it isn’t so fun to play outside. Hah! While they were outside, I was making dinner and Lorna made some Lamb to go with it. Overall it was a great day and we got to spend lots of time as a family and doing family things. Those are the days Darrell and I love.

There are always a bunch of stuff going on for the Christmas holidays in Seattle. This year, we took advantage of some things we hadn’t before and we loved doing them. First up, we took the link train downtown and wandered around to see the sights down there. We wandered through the Sheraton Hotel’s Gingerbread village, the Olympic Fairmont Hotel’s Christmas Tree Festival and their Teddy Bear room. Then we grabbed the monorail and headed towards the Armory and the Seattle Center to see the Space Needle, the train setup, and we took Edward ice skating for his first time. He was nervous at first, but after a bit, he became more stable and loved going around.

We also went to Woodland Park Zoo and did Zoolights. It is the one thing we try to make sure we do each year. Edward loves seeing the lights and playing at the Zoomasium with all the snowballs they have.

We got a snow day and the neighborhood kids had a blast sliding down our street. Edward and Darrell spent a good portion of the day outside. They sled down the street, built some snowmen in the park, and even built an igloo. Darrell also brought out a bunch of hotchocolate for the kids to drink and they all loved that.

We took some family photos for Christmas Cards and even went and did our annual Santa Photo. We have been doing the Santa Photo since Edward was a year old and we have made it to see the same Santa thus far. We love him!

And last but not least, we began something we hope is a tradition. Edward loves watching the Polar Express, so we decided to do a Polar Express movie night and invite his friends. We put the movie on, got some pizza and hot chocolate and all watched. Since most of the mommy friends I have love to bake, we added a side mommy thing and did a cookie exchange. There were lots of cookies to go around and everyone seemed to love it. I made these cute little snowmen with Reese’s in them for each family to take one home.

It was an amazing Christmas. We have 2 kids now! Edward is super excited for Christmas now. He is finally super excited and into Christmas, so we get to do all sorts of fun stuff. We got to do our annual trip to Swansons and Edward loves looking at the train display and seeing the reindeer. This year was great because we happened to show up while there was a Santa wandering around and Edward loved it because he had candy canes in his bag. 🙂

We had a super busy October and November. Most of October was just chilling around the house while we waited for Morgan to arrive. We were certain he would come early, but he didn’t. Sharyn’s mom came up and stayed with us for the month, so we got to do lots of things with her. And Papa stopped by occasionally too, so Edward got some last minute personal grandparent time in. We went to the Air museum at Paine Field for their Monster Bash halloween event. Edward, Daddy, and Papa all rode on the big Monster Jeep and had a blast even though it was pouring rain and the wind was whipping it all around. He seemed to have fun though.

Then after Morgan, was Halloween. We headed down into our old neighborhood for a trick-or-treat around Licton Springs and then headed down to a friends house for the regular trick-or-treat door to door with friends. Edward loved every minute of it. I asked him later if he like Halloween, and his reply was “I don’t like Halloween, but I love candy!”

Between October and November, we had all the grandparents visit. Grandma & Papa visited in October and early November. A few days after they left, Grandad and Grandma Peggy came for a visit, and then two weeks later, Grammy came for a visit. We were super busy and It was nice getting to see everyone in a short period of time.

Of course, we also had Thanksgiving and spent it with Grammy while she was visiting. Edward loves all the food we make.
