Back in September, we had some professional photos taken while we were at a pumpkin patch. Because of the package I bought, I was entered into a drawing to win a free 1 hour photo shoot. I found out around my birthday (between all the seizures, hand foot mouth disease, and car accidents) that I won the drawing. We scheduled a date for early May, but Edward’s little accident made us need to reschedule for a later day in May. We finally got it scheduled and went and had them done in downtown Snohomish. Jon with Jon Kaplan Photography was amazing! Morgan was not feeling into anyone taking his picture and we tried a bunch of things before needing to resort to suckers. Overall though, he got a bunch of great photos. These are some of my favorites.

On Friday April 27, Edward had an accident and what should have been a small thing ended up needing stitches. We rushed him to the ER and they sent us down to Seattle Childrens. Edward liked the hours we got to sit in the ER waiting for the doctors to decide what we were going to do because they gave him the TV remote and full control over it. While we waited for the specialist to show up, he and Daddy got to watch the entire new Power Rangers movie and a couple other little shows. After the specialist showed up, they decided that he was going to need stitches, but they would need to do anesthesia which required use of the OR. So, Edward was checked into his own room and moved upstairs for the first surgery the next day. He was definitely groggy throughout the whole ordeal. It took a bit to wake him up in the morning (the boy sleeps like a log and didn’t even wake up while they were checking vitals, or moving him from his room to Pre-op. They took him into surgery and Darrell and I grabbed some breakfast while we waited. After about 45 minutes, the doctor came out and said everything looked good and went over what we were going to need to do for the next few weeks. Another half hour later, we were allowed to go back into Post-op to actually see him. He was still super tired, so they couldn’t get him to wake up (like a log I tell ya!). We tried a few different things, but what worked was asking him if he wanted to play Magic with Daddy. That popped his little eyes right open. They gave him a popsicle and we got to head back to the room. After he ate a little bit and moved around, they let us come home. It was a super long 45 hours, but made me soooo grateful that we live near one of the best children’s hospitals in the nation. He is doing really good now and we are just waiting for the rest of the stitches to dissolve. He got 10-12 stitches and only 2 of them have dissolved so far. Could still be another month or so, but he has had his follow-up and been released back to full activity.
Grammy came to town and was staying at a friends house in Renton. Since she was nearby, we let Edward head down for a weekend and spend time with Grammy by himself. He seemed to have a lot of fun and would call me just to see how I was doing and to check on his brother. Grammy took some photos to share with us.
Since our trip in November, we have been wanting to head back to Great Wolf Lodge since last time we spent a night in the ER and I spent most of the time in the room with a sick little boy. We wanted to figure out a good time to go and Darrell wanted to take his mom. So we were trying to figure out a time to go with all our schedules. During our waffling, we got an email with a special to upgrade to the suites. So, with that set, we figured a time and got our stuff together. We planned our trip for April 15-17 so it was after Spring breaks in the area and would be a bit quieter. Since it happened to be about half way between Edward and Lorna’s birthday, we went ahead and bought a birthday package.Â
It was a lot of fun. We went ahead and restarted Edward’s wand for the magiquest. We also got Morgan a wand and he loved wandering around and waving it at all the items. We spent sometime in the water park. Edward and Darrell got to ride some of the tube slides with Lorna. Morgan didn’t last very long before he was ready for bed, but he had fun while he was there.Â
Overall we had a blast. Unfortunately, Morgan caught a stomach bug the day before we left and then it hit Edward on our last night there, so he was down for the count. Maybe one of these times, we will be able to make a full trip there without any of us getting sick.
