Wednesday May 30 we went in for our regular doctors appointment as we had with other appointments. When the doctor listened with the doppler and couldn’t find the heartbeat, we knew there was a problem. He immediately cleared out his sonogram room and put us in there for an emergency sonogram. We got to see our perfect looking baby, but there was no heart activity.
We lost Pixel sometime over Memorial Day Weekend.
They immediately sent us over to Radiology to get a second opinion ultrasound before we decided on anything else. We had to come home and wait after the second opinion, but our fears were never allayed.
We were given the option of going in for the induction that night or waiting. We decided to wait as we wanted to salvage something of our anniversary.
I am currently scheduled to go in for an induction Thursday May 31, 2012 at 6:30am. We have to wait until we go in before filling out paperwork and making the decisions of whether or not to spend time with Pixel after the birth, whether or not to name him/her, what type of memorial and all the other stuff. It is a lot for us to cope with right now. We know that we will make it through, but the road from here to the end of the tunnel is mighty bumpy.
So sometime in the next couple of days, our Pixel will be here with us for a short time.
Now we will have to go through the stuff we have gotten and pack it up. It will be a long slow process, but all grieving is. My Mom and Grandmother are flying out tonight so that they can be here with us for the induction and labor, so we will have a support group out here. We are hoping to know more of why Pixel died this late in pregnancy, but there is always a chance that it is just an accident. The doctor said it was most likely a cord problem.
Hopefully things will look up for us sometime in the near future.
